Michigan Nursing Scholarship Fact Sheet ![]()
The Michigan Nursing Scholarship is a non-need based award available to Michigan residents enrolled at least half time at an eligible institution in a program leading to a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification, Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). Students will be selected for scholarship awards by their college or university financial aid office. Scholarship awards are for $4,000 per academic year for full time students, but cannot exceed the cost of attendance minus other grants and scholarships. Students receiving a full time scholarship award have to agree to work as a direct patient care nurse in eligible Michigan facility one year for each year of assistance. Failure to fulfill the work commitment will result in the scholarship becoming a loan that must be repaid.
Application
There is no application form for students to submit to the Michigan Nursing Scholarship Program. Colleges will award the scholarships and may require submission of a form or some other process for scholarship consideration. In addition, colleges may choose to prioritize awards to students with need, students exhibiting high academic performance, students in upper level coursework, or a combination of these or other factors. Students are advised to contact their institution’s financial aid office for information about how to be considered for an award.
Program Limits
Awards are for $4,000 for full time students, $3,000 for three-quarter time students, or $2,000 for half time students. Students can receive scholarship assistance for up to four academic years. Any future awards are subject to available and approved funding.
